A variant of the same short shonky shanty (see below) has recently turned up in a bottle, rescued by a local, on the golden sands of Buddha Beach in Thailand. It reads:<\/p>\n

I’m going down the hole
\nTo the ‘Liar’s Lair’
\nI’m going down the hole
\nSee what’s going on down there
\nJump right on
\nThat carousel<\/p>\n

I’m going down the hole
\nWhere the firemen sleep
\nI’m going down the hole
\nWhere the drinks are cheap
\nMight need a whiskey
\n& another one as well<\/p>\n

Red umbrella twirling in the rain
\nStand to, action, cameras roll
\nThe voice of reason walks the other way
\nThought I heard him say something, I don’t know
\nWhen Saturday comes & I got no money left
\nA wife & kid I never met<\/p>\n

I’m going down the hole
\nInto the earth
\nI’m going down the hole
\nFor what it’s worth
\nI may be back but then
\nMaybe I won’t<\/p>\n

I’m going down the hole
\nIf that’s what it takes
\nI’m jumping in the hole
\nCos them’s the stakes
\nTelephone says dooit dooit
\nThe hovering hand says don’t<\/p>\n

Sickle moon dancing through the trees
\nTraffic noise dying down
\nThe southern cross, the milky way
\nDon’t know where the rain went, maybe underground
\nWhen Saturday comes & I haven’t got a cent
\n& no one knows where I went<\/p>\n

I’ll be down the hole
\nWhere the white men sing
\nI’m rolling in the hole
\nDing a ling
\nWhere Frosty’s on the window
\nDumb & Self-Righteous smooching in the hall<\/p>\n

I’m going down the hole
\nWithout a plug
\nI’m going down the hole
\nNice & snug
\nSeen it on the pictures
\nY’haven’t seen it at all<\/p>\n

Don’t send me no postcard from above
\nI just lost the sense of irony
\nThe clouds here would make El Greco cry
\nI would paint them if I were he
\nWhen Saturday comes & there’s nothing left to eat
