Not The Merkins will be a band opposed to everything The Merkins stand for. A kick in the face to the Merkin machine. They will be evil and timely.

I myself am disturbed. Though hopefully not to the extent of the gentleman below. But, I guess, not to be disturbed at all is to be asleep.

I predict Not The Merkins will release something within the next five minutes. As for The Merkins themselves, fuck it. I’m gonna steal a rough mix and stick that out.

I’m gonna create a band called Not The Merkins.

It’s like following an egg truck over speed bumps in a 50 kph zone overrun by old ladies.

Let me re-phrase that. Now it seems yet another song needs bass on it. I don’t get what’s so important about bass. And what’s so great about The Merkins they need so long to record a few songs?
I really hope there soon will be a long gap between posts whereby The Merkins will have actually done something. I feel like I’m twiddling my thumbs here. Making up stuff that isn’t even interesting.

Like Stephen Hawking, the almost totally paralysed cosmologist (back in the day he would have been called a philosphopher). I think he’s great. I love it he has ideas. It’s better than having no ideas. I do worry about his worrying though. I just can’t believe he reckons theists are more scared of the dark than atheists. Let’s face it, everyone is afraid of the dark. Except people who aren’t. I’m sure it’s not a competition.
Maybe Stephen is being a little bit provocative there. Good on him.

Stephen says there is no afterlife. Except for atoms. Atoms have an afterlife. And thought is ephemeral. What he means is that the mortal is immortal and the immortal mortal.
As I say, I think he’s great.

I remind myself (in a humble way) of John Cleese in an episode of Monty Python’s Flying Circus where they seemed to have run out of ideas for the show and so, for the last segment, they simply did a long, slow zoom-in on a beach with John Cleese dressed up as a Roman soldier, and a voice-over explaining that there really wasn’t anything else they could think of.

The Merkins recording nearly finished, maybe ready within a week or two. Likewise the tour video. Thank God and Visa for that!

There is, in fact, a chronic lack of honesty in the media (this website included). Which is only natural since honesty is a matter of posture, and the various media themselves, with the possible exception of radio, being two dimensional.

Last night I saw something supremely idiotic on TV. Some guy in Australia had killed his wife, his daughter, his best friend to boot, and then killed himself. Maybe his friend was fucking his wife, who knows? They didn’t live to tell the tale. The media even dared ask the question: What would make a person to kill their own daughter? Only thing is, they have no idea. Or at least, not one they’re game to mention.

I once knew a guy (not very well) who cut his daughter’s throat and then stepped in front of a large truck on the motorway.

The only thing that would bring a man to kill his wife, daughter, best friend and then himself is that he wished he’d never married, never been born, or ever had a child or even a best friend.
Disturbed, yes.
He wants to undo everything. Take it all back.
